Wait... My Menstrual Cycle Shouldn't Hurt Me?

For as long as I can remember I would have the WORST cramps the week before my period. I would get headaches, and be exhausted.. and to top it off my moodiness was out of this world.

When I talk to other women around me this appears to be the "norm." Just something women have to grit and bare and another thing we, as women, have to overcome. Just part of mother-nature and the circle of life.

I am here to tell you today that although the majority of women experience this and therefore it is "the norm" it does NOT have to be the normal. These symptoms are actually your body's way of telling you there is an IMBALANCE!

Any pain in the body is commonly explained by either a deficiency or stagnation of either Qi (energy), blood, or body fluids. A TCM practitioner will determine which is the cause, based on the nature of the pain and how it presents in the body. This is the great thing about TCM it is individual to YOUR needs and doesn't have a one-treatment-fits-all approach.

So, what symptoms are actually a sign there is an imbalance within the body? PAIN...Anywhere. Breasts, back, abdomen, thighs, head... any pain in the body is actually your body's way of telling you something is off, don't ignore it! CLOTS.. big or small, clots tell you that blood is not moving freely in the body, and this can cause unwanted pain! SPOTTING.. this tells you your body is not containing blood- no fear, your TCM practitioner will know what to do! DIFFERENT COLOR OF BLOOD.. dark blood indicates stagnation or cold in the body, pale or brown indicates a deficiency, all which can create unnecessary pain. TIREDNESS.. this means your body is putting so much energy into losing blood that it doesn't have enough to sustain day to day activities during this time of the month.

Ladies, I know your tough and can put up with these symptoms, chances are you have been for a while now. Just know that you do have other options, if you wish to pursue them!

Chat with a TCM practitioner about regaining rebalance back within your body which may alleviate these unwanted PMS symptoms for you!
